I have a 2007 Honda Civic DX 1.8L. The car has ~200,000KM on it and it has a small power steering leak for 4 years now. The power steering fluid does not leak enough to pool on the ground.
Power steering system has been running with non OEM honda fluid for ~5,500 KM (recently found out). So I suspect more leaking is due to this because the fluid is less viscous.
In the attached picture below I have annotated the locations of the leaks. Given this I am thinking of replacing the power steering fluid. Completely clean the area and monitor for excessive leaks. If the leak does not subside then I'll replace the pump and high pressure line.
- In the annotated image the high pressure line appears to be leaking. Can these high pressure lines leak in that area? It seem uncommon to have a leak there but I can see oil.
If I have to replace I am thinking of going with a remanufactured pump. Any thoughts on comments going this route?
In general this car is driven very little (6,000KM - 8,000KM per year). I am only looking to get another 3 years out of the car or a max of 30,000 KM. So not looking to spend much money on the car anymore.
