Power steering leaking very fast
Was gone 3 weeks... came home and my mother said she heard a weird sound so she took the car to a gas station and they said the power steering fluid was empty. they filled it up, and that was that. I come home 3 weeks later and she informs me.
well I have had the car 3 days and the fluid is now basically empty. I felt the steering wheel jerk which gave me notice it was probably low. So I filled it back up again.
I know within a matter of a few days its going to be empty again. Pump is making a slight sound
Question is, if its leaking that fast could this be as simple as a hose leak, or is it likely the pump itself? Im super busy at work so I am going to try and find time this weekend to get underneath the car and look at it. It's also 10 degrees out here which is a royal pain but it is what it is.
Any guidance would be appreciated!

Re: Power steering leaking very fast
fill it up, jack up the car and support it on jackstands/put the e-brake on/chock the rear wheels. clean the areas that are dirty around the rack and pump (hell if its leaking that fast you can probably pinpoint it from the fluid residue). run the car and have someone turn the wheel fully from left to right while you look at the power steering pump,hoses/rack. see if its leaking. figure it out from there. for a car to go through an entire system of fluid in a matter of days means there is a major leak. you should be able to find it that way.
the leak could be anything within the system. you probably have a hose leak.

Re: Power steering leaking very fast
This is because of Power Steering pump leakage. Have you checked it? If not, get it checked and it is leaking, get new one of good quality.
