Hi everybody my name as Will and I have a problem. I drive a 94 Integra with a B18B1 and I’ve been having a problem getting my oil pan to seal. I have done my oil pan gasket three different times, have gone through 2 BRANDNEW oil pans and two different kinds of gaskets and I cannot get it to seal. I have had a buddy who has owned several Hondas help me out with the gasket but when we were finished it still kept leakin. When it started leaking before I even touched it was leaking a lot worse than it is now I have been told several things that could be wrong, that my block is warped, that my block is cracked, they didn’t use enough sealant etc. etc. I just wanna know if anybody has any tips on where to go from here cause I have no idea… TIA ( pic of teggy below)
Get a Fel-Pro OS30630T rigid frame oil pan gasket or a composite "MyHondaHabit" oil pan gasket and install it. Only use HondaBond on the mating corners (oil pump to block and rear seal plate to block areas) and torque all bolts/nuts to 8 ft/lbs.in the factory sequence. If there are any gouges in the block surface, push some HondaBond in the area to limit leaking. Make sure the oil pan surface is flat/level and all of the dimples are still raised up consistently.
1st...that's a nice photo of a clean Integra.
I thought that my top end wasn't leaking oil and started messing with my oil pan bolts. The one hidden by the header didn't allow me to use my torque wrench, so I made my best guess and tightened it.
I had convexed a couple of the pan holes, thought I could correct it by tapping them flat, but they weren't flat enough.
In the end, I replaced my cam seal plug, removed my header, and bought a new oil pan.
About eight years later, I had a new oil leak and I went straight to the cam seal plug.
You pretty much have to go below the recommended torque value to tighten the oil pan to prevent leaks, even at the recommended torque the gasket sometimes starts to distort.
So I was using gaskets and it seemed like every 15k it would start leaking or seeping. And this was back when I actually pulled a torque wrench out and did it correctly. Since then I’ve ditched the hard gasket all together and use a high quality RTV like the black Toyota or the black VWAG and have no issues. And a cheaper option I’ve never put on my personal car but have had insane luck with permatex the right stuff. Just be aware it SUCKS getting getting the pan off after
