Default Factory Navigation Replacement

Hello all,

I have a 2008 Honda Civic w/Factory Navigation. Well, my head unit went out so I decided to replace it with an aftermarket head unit. I grabbed a Sony XAV-AX1000 as my replacement. I bought the Crux SWRHN-62B radio replacement interface because it promised to retain steering wheel controls. After hooking it up, everything works great except the steering wheel controls do not work. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have connected everything that goes together, but feel like I am still missing something. I am looking for any help to make sure my steering wheel controls (attached) work with my head unit. Thank you!

If the Sony doesn't have a 3.5mm SWC jack, then use the Crux 3.5mm SWC adapter plug.

For your 2008 Civic, the pink wire is at factory Connector B, terminal no. 7 which is connected to the aftermarket head unit's SWC Key 1 wire. The Civic's SWC ground wire (Brn at Connector B, terminal no. 6) is connected to the aftermarket's ground wire for SWC (this is not the same wire as SWC Key 2).

SWC Key 2 is left unconnected, since the Civic only uses one control wire (i.e., the Pink wire) and a ground (Brn wire). Some cars have two control wires and the source ground.

@tech8, my Sony head unit does have a 3.5mm SWC jack. It’s plugged in to the back. Would it still be worth it to try to rewire or try to find a correct part?
