My boyz got stock head unit, It used to play play burned cd, no it only plays originals.. any ideas.....

also if he changes the head unit will he lose the use of the steering wheel controls for the stereo

If he changes the stock radio for an aftermarket then the steering wheel controls will not work.

 

sometimes with factory radios it depends on the quality of CD's used for burning sometimes the lesser quality CD's won't play, and yea after you get an aftermarket CD player you'll lose the steering wheel controls
