I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX sedan and when I had it inspected in January, the mechanic said it needed the driver side front axle boot. I contacted the local Honda garage and was informed that they are on back order, but they couldn't say when or even if they will ever have them in stock. This was over 2 months ago. I feel a little antsy driving the car since it's making thumping noises n the front end. I am not sure what to do. I don't have a credit card, so can't order parts online.

 

If the joint is making noise, it's too late for a boot. You'll need to replace the whole driveshaft.
