California Questions, Smog, Rebuilt Engine
Hi Everyone-
So nearing the end phases of my Prelude rebuild. Took a stock H22 with a bad rod knock and restored it but it took about three years to get to today lol. Registration fell off the map and I live in Southern California. I need to drive around for a few hundred miles to work the kinks, get new tires, alignment, etc. Is the only way to do that legally- is to just go fail the smog test and get a 60 day operation permit?
After posting this- I realized this could have gone in a more general forum lol. Apologies everyone.

I just went through something similar. I believe I was told they cannot issue the 60-day passes after so much time has passed since smog was due, so I ended up with a few of those one-day passes. I just drove around for 15- 20 miles until the monitors were ready, and went to the smog station on a brand new engine. Eventually passed no problem. Took a few tries cause I was always within 1-2 ppm over the hyrdrocarbon limit. Finally passed by being 1-2 under.
So, basically, just get a one-day permit and get your smog done.
