G22 Turbo build? Or f22b1?
Hey, I'm new to this forum although used it a lot in the past for info on swaps and such...
I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX Wagon with a 5 speed conversion in terrific shape and want to make some boost. I currently have a JDM H22A (pretty sure its a black top) in it with a spun bearing. Haven't really looked into it but bottom end is junk. Head should be fine after a quick trip to the machine shop.
I also have 3 F22B1's, 3 5 speed accord transmissions a F22A6 head and a p06 with a demon v2 at my disposal. This would be a daily driver for only 5-6 months a year since I'm not driving it in the salt. I do have a lot of knowledge on these but nothing compared to this forum of geniuses. I want to make boost on somewhat of a budget but still have quality parts. Not full ***** but like half ***** to the wall?
Now for the thick of it.... Do I build a G22 with k20 pistons, h beams rods...etc OR do I just slap on a turbo on one of the F22B1s and call it a day? Im aiming towards a minimum and reliable 300-350whp although if the build allows me to, I'm willing to do more. With the engine chosen, what size and brand of turbo? Do i put in proper injectors or just go for decapped gm LS injectors? Am i good with the Demon V2 or get a S300? And also do I keep the stock JDM intake or do I get a skunk2 with bigger throttle body? What compression ratio should I be aiming for? I want your suggestions on how you would build this car. Please help me as I cant decide what to do with all these parts laying around lol.
Feel free to ask anything about the car and such.
Thanks

I won't comment on the choice of F22 or G22, as I'm not too knowledgeable with the H-series platform. But, if you're on a budget I would buy some genuine Bosch EV14 injectors (size will depend on fuel - 1000cc should get you to your goals on E85) and stick with the Demon V2 and stock intake manifold. I would get pistons in the 9.0:1 - 10.0:1 compression ratio range...aiming for closer to 10.0:1. I don't see any H-series "kits" on Go-Autoworks.com's website, but I would reach out to Greg and see if he can put together an entry level "street kit" to reach your goals.
Unfortunately, I live in the east coast of Canada, so no E85 and highest octane is 91. It would be ideal to just run on premium pump gas. I do have a friend that is running his turbo 4th gen prelude on 91 pump gas just fine.
I was also thinking of supercharging as well....

Regarding fuel type, I was just commenting on injector size - if running 91 octane, 1000cc will be more than enough injector to deliver the fuel needed for your goals.
I'm really starting to feel like a broken record when I say "G" series abominations are garbage and prone to issues. Since you plan to daily it for a significant amount of time, just stick with the F series.
Boost the **** out of a stock compression rebuilt F22B* bottom end with the F22A6 PT3 head to top it off.
No need to mickey mouse K20/H22 **** in there. If you are going boost, rods, cast pistons stock PT3 head and boost away!
What is your budget and where are you in the 506?
I may have some F22 bits and pieces lying around that you could use.

For turbo brands Garrett, Precision, Turbonetics are a few good choices, although there are also options like Greddy, and Borg Warner…
If you’re going for 300-350 hp then don’t go too big with the turbo. You can have something that spools fast and still make that peak power with a small turbo such as a T3/T04B or T3/T04E (one of the smaller trims). First decide on a brand and what spool characteristics, then people can help suggest the correct sized turbo. Just asking 300-350hp and which turbo is a broad topic.

Replying to everyone here, Thanks for the help!
I really want some sort of use out of this big paperweight of an h22 i have. Thats why im leaning on the g22.If you guessed it already, yes i got scammed on a FB marketplace deal on the h22 (hahaha 1000 canadian pesos down the drain)
Should I part out the h22 and put the money in the car or do something with it? It might be rebuildable aswell as theres no hole in the block or anything. Just bearing material in the oil and filter.
Thanks again guys
