Hey everyone. Hoping there's an electrical guru or knowledgeable party out there that can help me with this issue. I ordered a set of fog lights [OEM JDM from overseas, NOT the OEM US where you connect harness A under the hood] and I'm having an issue getting power to the actual lights. I have harness A + B, I have the switch installed and the power to the switch is working (its lighting up) and I fully tested the relay and know its working.
However I have these two other connectors that I'm not sure where they go/what to connect them to. I know the single blue wire connects to something, if you look at the relay it needs the blue to complete the circuit and send power to the actual lights (I do not know what the dual red wire is for or if its needed) and this is where I'm getting stuck. I don't know if I need the Japanese installation guide for this? What else to do? I've searched high and low through the net and forums and I keep coming across the US install but the harnesses are way different. Any help on this would be EXTREMELY appreciated!
I have the electrical and dealer diagrams for the 96-97 Accord fog lights.
Is that what you are working on?
What year are you looking to put this on? The 94?
Yeah, I'm installing this on my '94 wagon. I also have the install for the 96-97 from Honda US but it doesn't match up. I'm assuming I need the install sheet for the 94-95 or I need a Japan install sheet
Through powers of deduction (and obsessive image reviews) I may have found the issue. I think a fuse is supposed to run between the 2 "extra" clips as one seems to be power and the other is used to complete the circuit. I know there is an inline fuse in the wiring that's not present and that's the only logical place it can go. Waiting on parts to be delivered to test out my theory. I will keep this thread updated on what I find in case anyone else ever needs this data!
First I wanted to thank everyone for their help who commented! this issue has been resolved. The fix was a missing fuse placement. So FYI in case anyone acquires the Non-US OEM fog lights: the instillation will be the same as the Depo lights. If you have that PDF then perfect, however the only difference is there are 2 extra clips that come off the wire that leads out to the fog lights from inside the car. They are actually a power line(s) and the line to complete the relay to provide power to the lights. All you need to do is run an inline fuse between these lines and the lights will work. Ive attached a picture below how I did it. Hopefully this can help someone out if they ever need
Oh good! I am glad you got it figured out, I was uploading the Electrical Manual pictures as I was reading your reply.
Thanks for the guide, but if I could ask for that PDF for the instructions, I am curious how it compares to the ones I have myself (The US foglight instructions and the Electrical Manual)
Keep us up to date how it works over time, if you do end up wanting those pictures, go ahead and let me know. Clear skies
Absolutely! gonna run the wiring to the front tonight actually, then I just need to figure out how to fix the lights to the bumper (OEM is self tapping screws? wondering if nuts/bolts/loctite would be better) and it should be all set. As for the Depo instructions I actually came across a huge Imgur post where this dude did a whole photo breakdown install, he uploaded the instructions at the end as well: 1994-95 Honda Accord Fog Light Installation
super rad coverage
I was thinking about this the other day when I was reapplying my bumper... The stock blinkers and stock mudflaps use a clip that has a hole that guides the screw to a thread on the otherside of the hole, a U-Nut or Spire Nut? That might work for your purpose, or you could attach clips to the light holder itself and slap it on that way. Hope it is working well.
So far so good! I ended up using some metric screws with nuts i had lying around that happened to be perfect size (just had to shave em down). I have hyper white bulbs in the headlights though so they don't do much but I love the final look haha. Gotta see if theres replacement hyper white bulbs for the fog lights now I guess?
Still have to redo my entire front suspension though (finally getting the last of the parts in), and my driver window made a funky snap and blew off track last night so those are top priority at the moment
I’m sure that the white bulbs will look awesome, matching the all-around clear lenses. Good for you!
You MUST provide pictures however, it’s mandatory. 😉
Yeah, I redid my front suspension when I did the ROH conversion. It’s a pain until you get your tricks and tips in order and apply them correctly. (Only took me 4 tries haha). Are you upgrading to 96-97 suspension, or going stock style?
I thought there was some slight differences. But I’m not familiar with the wagons, I’m more of a sedan guy. When I drove my 95 it was different than the 97s.
I saw that, I made one just to help myself keep track as well as display it for educational purposes for others. I’m pleasantly surprised how many people still faithfully maintain their 5th gens.
