I recently blew my b16a2 motor (usdm), so I went shopping for another motor.
I found a good deal on a jdm b16 longblock. I think it is the 1st gen though. My question is will I run into any wiring problems swapping an older motor/obd1 motor into a 1999 Si?
I have JRSC and will be running Hondata s200 w/OBD2 to OBD1 adapter harness and a p28. That should be pretty much all the wiring I have to worry about correct?
I think it's a 1st gen b16 b/c the IM has PGM-FI writing on it. The valve cover looks just like the 99up usdm b16.
I plan to unbolt everything from the usdm b16a2 and install it on the jdm b16a (JRSC, tranny, clutch, flywheel, alternator, etc.) Hopefully everything goes well. I'm just worried about the wiring and the whole motor is older than the chassis deal...

other then being illegal it will be a hassle but it can be done. Why not just rebuild the engine you already have? thats what i would do...oh wait i already did that..oops... so yeah rebuild it.

yup, it will be illegal indeed.
oh yes, I have plans to do a complete rebuild on my original motor. Thing is, time is an issue. I need my car running, which is why I went ahead and bought another motor.
As for my usdm b16a2, yes, complete rebuild will be in the works. So if blow the jdm one, I'll swap again
then build the jdm one
and when that's done, time to shop for an EG hatch swap candidate

you are going to need to get an obdI ecu, and conversion harness because your motor has a crank position sensor and the first gen ones dont
thats what i know for sure, you are probably going to need an obd1 dist and other sensors too but im not 100%

Just swap over what is salvageble. I might even try switching the head if it is still good. You can use all of your accessories from the newer b16a, like the distributor, etc. I was going to suggest switching the oil pumps too, but if you are running obd1, then it doesnt matter that you are missing the crank angle sensor.
blah
its really easy
just take ur oil pump that has the crank angle sensor on it
take your entire intake manafold and bolt that on
and take ur distributor
thats the easy way to do it

Other than switching the oil pump, you're just changing out a longblock. You will also need to replace the timing belt side mount bracket and rear bracket with the one from your motor. Bolt it in and go!

thanks for the pointers guys.
Longblock will be here today. Gonna start taking stuff off the longblock. Getting a new timing belt, water pump, tensioner and other crap for it and installing it this week. I will pull the motor afterwards and swap the jrsc, etc. to the jdm one. I'll let u guys know how the swap goes
