Default Turbo hot side swap question.

Ok this may be a question I already know the answer to but I just lost a T04e spec turbo from turbonetics in my h23a project car. I was a little low on money and want to get to the drag strip a couple more times this year so I ordered a cheap turbo to go a few more rounds, I got the turbo which I assumed would fit the same and of course didn’t. So my down pipe and all that would need to be modified to use it…. Or I was wondering , can I use my turbonetics hot side housing to solve the fitment problem? The turbonetics hot side exhaust out hole measures 2 3/8” roughly and the other one measures 2 1/4. Obviously it will fit but now there will be a 1/8” gap between the exhaust wheel and the housing. What kind of issues could this create? Is it worth doing or not? I have a feeling it may not be… but what would be the effects of running it like this?

I don’t think it will work. The exhaust will be going around the blade and not spinning it. I don’t think it will build very much boost.
Are you going to try it?

Post a pics of the housings. If your current housing and blade are for a larger "B" trim blade but the new housing is for a smaller "A" trim blade, it will not work. Too much exhaust energy will be lost because of the mismatch. However, if the blades for both turbos are the same trim (measure the blades) but the ex housings are a different A/R the change could work as a quick fix as long as the intake housings are at a comparable size.
