Default Hey Everyone My Name Is Wyatt!

I Have A 2000 Honda Civic Ex With A D16Y8 I’m Building Up.

Ive Completed The Whole Suspension And New Steering Rack And Everything.

The Motor Is Health She Purrs.
but I’m going to rebuild it since it has 245K Miles!!

im looking to eventually boost it, I’m New To All This Stuff And Was Wondering Were To Start On Getting A Y8 Some Power. Does Anyone Have Advice? I Want To Boost It But Keep The AC Obviously I Rebuilt the entire ac system it’s nice and hot in oklahoma haha.

anyway what bolt ons should I start with? And what cam? Does every stage 2 cam and above need tuned? May sound stupid but I’m new to this.
Im only looking to make a decent amount of power out of it maybe like 12-15 psi? I know I need ARP head studs and all that.

but we’re should I start guys? I need to find a P28 ECU and A Harness to convert it to OBD1 as its OBD2 Now.

Thats For All The Help I Hope To Get In This Journey I’ll Post A Starting Pic And A Ending One

i have added my Facebook post to my profile so anyone is welcome to message me or anything
ill even put it here if it’s allowed…. These pics were from the day I first bought it and I’ll kee updating them if anyone is interested
thanks everyone in advance

Can you share more details regarding your goals with the car? HP-targets? Main uses for the car (Track car, DD, 1/4 mile machine, etc.). Budget?

People can give you more direction with some more insight.

Mu Main Power Goals Are Around 350-400 WHP Roughly. I’m Looking To Make It A Fun Street Boosted Y8.

As For Budget I’ve Put Around 1.7K in it so far and Will Add Much More.
Yes It’s A Curent DD But When Big Mods Come I have a backup. I’m pretty much looking to see what I Can Do With This D16Y8 And Make It A Fun Yet Reliable Vehicle.

im very new to the civic game and I know that I will need a p28 ecu with a obd1 to obd2 jumper harness I believe?

on the current list I’m going to get the no notch pistons, turn the crank, pretty much rebuild the motor and get obviously a new head porting it is a good idea right? And when you drop a new cam in how is it tuned? Like do you need that new ecu with Hondata before you can even cam it?

sorry for all the questions I’m learning and it’s a ton of fun in the process.

Sounds like you don't have much of a budget which is good because getting 350-400 reliable HP out of the Y8 will take several grand. If you have that goal in mind, you should probably go ahead and get a Hondata S300. The newer versions have nice features like boost by gear. You can get away with other tuning hardware and software, but Hondata is tried and true.

You can probably cam a Y8 without a Hondata but you're unlikely to see anything but minimal gains without a tune to the extent it wouldn't even be worth it. Tuning ability is a cornerstone in any good mild to extreme N/A or boosted build.

Search YouTube. There are tons of vids of boosted single cam build you can get ideas from. Lots of folks have done 350-400 hp on the single jingle. It's a good motor. D-series.org is another great resource for single cam stuff.
