CONFUSED HEIP ECU
Okay here's the deal I have got a 93 Civic EX coupe
automatic, EJ1, D16Z6 engine. Ok threw a CEL 13 code( barometric) ok guess it's in the ECU. Look at the numbers on the ECU it's 3780-P06-A50. Ok that's for a DX 1.5 motor WTF... Won't a P28 work on my EX.????? Please help Thanks

A P28 is the ECU type specifically for a Civic EX with a D16Z6 engine... how your engine is running properly with a P06 is unknown. There is no VTEC circuitry inside a P06, so there should be no VTEC function inside the engine. If the engine seemingly runs well, it is likely that the P06 has been chipped and modified internally to essentially bring it up to "P28 Spec". To confirm this, one would have to remove the lid of the ECU and inspect inside to see what's doin'. Take a pic of the full interior of the ECU and post it here... that will help.

Buy a P28. Whomever you are buying it from doesn't know what they are talking out as there is nothing to program by VIN on a P28.
You could go grab a P28 out of any automatic Civic in the wrecking yard and slap it in to your Civic and go. No programming required, no immobilizer, nothing. Just plug it in and go.

One more thing. After I put the P28 in do I need to crank the car and let run for a while, then cut it off, and restart it again. Any special instructions. Thanks again.
Plug it in and go. It will do a little self learning over the next couple of drive cycles. Nothing special required. These old computers are rather dumb when you compare them to anything modern. Make spark, go boom, is about all they are capable of.
Note, you will need to find a P28 for an automatic. The ECU in this application is also the transmission brains. ECU, technically PCM in this case, part number will end in A50, A51, or A52. The 5 in the part number indicates the automatic transmission and the last digit is the revision number. Happy hunting.

Ok will do. You're a lifesaver. Can't thank you enough. I really like my Honda haven't had it long it's just stock . got a good body on it wish it was a straight gear tho. It's got 259,000 but it runs like a top ....knock on wood. Which I have replaced a few things. But won't get what iv put in it if I sold it. So I'll just keep and drive the heck out of it.
