New to the forum here... trying to get some information on transmission final drives...

I'm building a UTV out of a 1995 Civic DX (all stock), I've already fabricated the chassis and engine mounts, and have the engine and differentials mounted. I'm in the process, of figuring out gear ratios for my drivetrain...

I'm wondering how I can get as tall of gearing in the final drive as possible. I believe the tranny is an A24A, it sounds like NO ONE likes the automatics, but for my application its what I prefer.

Here's what I found in the forums for gear ratios:
1st: 2.6
2nd: 1.468
3rd: 0.975
4th: .673
Reverse: 1.954
Final Drive in transmission: 4.333

I also am running it all through 2.73 differentials...

So if I calculate what my speed is at in:
1st gear, @2500 rpm......... I get ~7 mph
2nd gear, @2500 rpm........I get ~12.5 mph
3rd gear, @2500 rpm........ I get ~18.5 mph
4th gear, @2500 rpm........ I get ~27 mph
4th gear, @4500 rpm........ I get ~48 mph
4th gear, @5500 rpm........ I get ~59 mph

Other questions:
Can I swap final drives from other trannys, either auto or manual? Maybe something between 4.0 and 4.3, would be great?)
Are there aftermarket options?
I heard an HX model had a 3.72 final drive ratio, can anyone confirm?

 

You are not going to find many options in the automatics. No one made parts for them and really no one modified them.

You can find a 3.75 in the HX, VX, and CX manual transmissions but those are not going to be compatible with the automatics.
