Default Skunk2 Tuner 1 cams wearing parts quickly?

So I was thinking of going with some daily driver friendly cams that are a little more aggressive than ITR cams but not much, so that lead me to the Skunk2 Tuner 1 cams. However after reading this...

I'm worried about running these cams daily.

I didn’t see any actual data of them wearing. My engine has roughly 8k miles with my tuner 1’s. I just recently swapped the Skunk2 valve cover hardware out for OEM and looked at the head components and all looked mint. The miles these cams have seen thus far are pretty rough with the time attacks I’ve been doing too

I’m on year 3 using Pro1’s and they still look fresh. Just add a bottle of sync to each oil change

Honestly I have no idea why Shodan posted that, but it was also 11 years ago.

I remember that post, now. Please dis-regard it. I'll even make a 2021 post edit. There was one batch of over 400 sets of the chilled-cast Iron camshafts that had premature wear from over 13 years ago. That was corrected almost immediately after I pointed it out to Brian at Skunk2. Just disregard it and keep the Tuner 1s. You're fine.

I had Tuner 2's running in my B16 for even longer than that and they still looked good. They fetched a few doll hairs on eBay and the rocker's still had a mirror polish.

The pro cams have higher intensity, and may cause premature wear.

That's interesting. When I called Ramey Racing and another well known drag racing shop recommended by Ferrea they all suggested that I run Tuner 2 cams and not Tuner 1 cams for a daily driver roll racer. From all research on here it pointed to the opposite direction however...

Keep in mind companies like Ramey/Sheepey and other "drag racing" oriented shops immediately think you're building a 600+WHP monster if you mention roll racing.

I forget what your overall setup and target HP is.

No I told them bore size, compression, GT3076r, and roughly 500whp.

But I also saw where Justin picked up power by going with Tune 1 vs Tuner 2. Only difference is I think he has a GT2871r. Not sure on his bore size or compression.

I've looked at back to back comparisons on the Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 cams and the Tuner 2's work a bit better with higher compression and also give more top end power then the Tuner 1's. The Tuner 1's look like they do a bit better in the mid range power band, so if you are trying to roll race then you would probably be looking for a cam that provides more power in the top end. I am guessing based on what you're trying to do, they are giving you your best options based on what you told them.
