So my starter was dying and finally died. So I installed a new starter. This new starter is trying like hell to start my car but oops I broke a tiny little red wire while installing the new starter. See pics below. The wire comes off of the main battery cable and starter wire bundle which both seem to be hooked up correctly. What am I missing guys?
Since the wire is Red/Blu, that probably is the knock sensor wire.
Thanks for the reply! After watching a ton of videos. I am pretty confident it is the knock sensor like you said! This would not keep it from starting right?
It has never started great since I got it about a year ago. Its always been a long noisy start.
2 days ago the check engine light comes on for the wife.
1 day ago I drive it to work and notice its a little slow on the take off or maybe that's just me, not my daily driver.
On the way home I get a flashing green "D" I pull over and determine its probably just a tranny sensor and drive home
Once home I turn off and check all fluids. Plastic oil dip stick seems a little bent Add a little water to resistor but everything else is fine
Wife informs me she also "smelt something burning" day of check engine light
Car never starts again and now I have check engine, battery and fuel pressure codes
Noticed a buzzing relay that I jumped with paperclip to see if would start-no dice
So I figure might as well replace that starter that needs to be replaced anyway
Replace starter and break what I think is knock sensor wire
Have a heck of a time pulling out the old broken sensor
In the mean time battery Is slowly dying so I am jumping with my 2000amp jumper
Car wants to rotate and turn over, starter sounds better than ever but will not start
Was it the starter or something else? Both?
Ive been at this since Friday night and about to pull my hair out
