Default OBD0 DPFI to OBD1 MPFI Distributor guide (Direct 5 to 7 wire)

Hi all, this will be a wiring guide for the 5 wire obd0 dpfi square distributor plug to the 7 wire obd1 distributor plug, to use your obd1 distributor on your OBD1/MPFI Swap WITHOUT using the obd0 mpfi 7 wire circle plug many of the guide suggest you use.

ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE REPLY TO THREAD! I WILL TRY TO HELP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

Supplies you will need:
-OBD0 Distributor side plug
-OBD1 Distributor plug(engine harness side clip)
-OBD1 Distributor
-Solder, shrink wrap, wiring supplies

So for the OBD1 swap you will go from 5 wires to 7 wires, the 2 extra wires coming out of your distributor will go to pins C1 and C2 in your new OBD1 ECU

The 2nd 2 wire plug is self explanatory, Blue wire to blue wire, and black/yellow to black/yellow, don't worry about the wire size difference for the black/yellow wire

Im glad the post is kinda helping someone!

that is a good question! I actually sold my car about a year ago- im thinking my jumper had c1/c2 blank and i wired them straight to the ecu. This is good timing of the post, because my car just was sold to back to someone that goes to my university. I will take a peel at it next week! Ill let you know!

C1 and c2 it says it’s a b connector but it’s the c the small one

A 15 and A 18 are the obd0
But the obd0 to obd1 jumper harness I got has the extension harness for your own stuff to be wired in and the c1 and c2 are connected to it... I just don’t wanna fry any computer stuff.

Hello, sorry for reviving a two year old post, but using a jumper harness, where should I connect it on the obd0 side? Appreciate any help provided.

Hi! This is to convert to an OBD1 distributor. You will connect this jumper harness to your factory engine harness, then to the obd1 distributor.

I believe I was able to follow your device. I will report back to see how it worked. Thanks a lot for your help!

Created an account just to help with this thread to add additional info to it.
The additional wires can go to different locations depending on which ECU plug you need.

OBD1 dizzy wiring
  1. White= Cylinder position Mass
  2. White/Blue= TDC Mass
  3. Blue/Yellow (new wire)= Crank position Mass
  4. Orange= Cylinder position pulse
  5. Orange/Blue= TDC pulse
  6. Blue/green (new wire)= Crank Position Pulse
  7. Green/yellow= 5v feed

    OBD0 dizzy wiring (5 wire)
  8. Tan(whiteish)= TDC mass
  9. Green/yellow= 5v feed
  10. White= TDC pulse
  11. Blue = Cylinder position mass
  12. Blue/yellow= Cylinder position pulse

Crank position signals missing from 5 wire, Crank position wiring needs adding
Wiring needs adding to pins B10 and B12 on OBD0 ECU OR pins B15 and B16 on OBD1 ECU

**The Blue/Green wire needs wiring to pin B10 on OBD0 connector or B15 on OBD1 jumper harness connector**
**The Blue/Yellow wire needs wiring to pin B12 on OBD0 connector or B16 on OBD1 jumper harness connector**

Finally got the engine running now. I had an issue where the CYP (Cylinder position) and CKP (Crank position) wires were the wrong way round causing the engine to run horribly. If you encounter this issue, the easiest way to fix it is at the distributor. In my case the CKP wires were Orange and white, and the CYP wires were Blue/Green and Blue/Yellow. re-pinning the connector at the distributor and swapping these wires around fixed the issue for me!
