Weird issues - 95 Civic dx d15b7
I’m stuck in that weird “limp” mode where it wont rev past 4K and it acts like a fuel cut and makes extreme popping like almost a launch control of some sorts. I bought the car off of some guy a few towns away and drove it fine back. It had a rough idle and all sorts of issues. The cel is on and I’ve made plenty of attempts to read it by shorting the connector but nothing flashes at all. I’ve changed to another cluster to try and see if it helps but all it does is flash the srs for a few seconds and then leaves the engine light solid. Also sometimes when I short it it doesn’t do anything at all. Idle sits somewhere around 8-1100 rpms but as I tap the gas it’ll rise and rise to a top of 1800. I’ve changed the iacv, map sensor, and just because the cluster wasn’t working for speed I changed the speed sensor and that fixed that. I know timing is off and it’s on the first mark but I can’t even get past it while the distributor is turned all the way towards the front. I’m just curious as to what’s another option I have. Could it be a bad ecu?
if the distributor is not dialing it in then your
timing belt likely skipped a notch or 2 on the intake cam.
set crank at timing mark, remove valve cover and check cam alignment.

I appreciate the follow up. I’ll take a look Wednesday and when I’m off and go through with it.
