Icon5 Question: What is the possible cause of an oil leak?

Hey guys,

Got a question these days.

"A considerable oil leak developed. I removed the bottom covers and reinforcing plate and found quite a flow from the rear of the engine between the engine and transmission when the engine is running. I think this repair is beyond me as it appears the transmission has to come out to fix it. I just wonder if anyone has tips for a simpler repair I can DIY."

This is the problem of one of our friends. Having asked him to check the valve covers, oil pan and the pressure in the crankcase, the situation seems to be a little bit better but the problem still exists.

Does anyone have tips for a simpler repair that he is able to DIY?

Nope. You have to pull the transmission to replace the rear main seal.
