Default Turbo gsr refresh and upgrades

Hey guys I've taken my engine apart going to machine shop for a refresh the cylinder head.. components and cleaning. Also upgrading fuel system.. Currently I'm at 510whp 18psi css block 81.5mm 6262 turbo with itr cams. I'm wondering if I upgrade the cams to skunk2 tuner 1s will I have to degree those cams? I kno for sure the pro1s have to be degreed. The car has been tuned for 2 years and I would like little more power with less lag. The goal is better fuel system and e85 maybe 600whp.
I would still like to drive the car on the street on weekends Any suggestions will help thank you.

What do you mean by "degree the cams"? Do you mean when you install them you have to line up the marks on the camshaft pulleys with the timing belt? I haven't heard of "degree the cam" except when people have adjustable cam gears, then they increase or decrease the degrees on it to gain more power.

Just type in "Degreeing camshafts" into Google and there are a lot of explanations and videos of what that means.

With Tuner 1's I'd start them at 0,0 and then see how they respond on the dyno. The lobes aren't so aggressive that you need to worry about p2v contact.

Even at 0,0 they'll likely provide a power bump over the ITR.

Tuner 1s are a "Drop in" camshaft like a Type R. that's what they were designed for. If you want less lag, and better midrange.. honestly, Get a smaller turbocharger. You got something rather large for the size engine you're using. It's "light-switch" behaviour is because of the size of the turbocharger, with a lower boost threshold, on a smaller displacement engine.

Camshafts will help very little for what you're asking. But Tuner 1s aren't bad.

Thank you guys for replying. I decided to switch up my plans and go with 84mm darton sleeves and start fresh. Waiting on the machine work. As far as cams I have not decided yet.

Post some pictures of the Darton sleeved block once you have it back from the machine shop if you can. I’d like to see how it compares to other sleeves.

Look into GSC T1 cams. If your'e going sleeved with 84mm, and at you're power level, you'd get a pretty decent kick from the GSC's.

Even better if he had that 89mm stroke from a B18B or B20B/Z. I'd be all giggles then. ;-)

Thank you. I will look into the GSC's. I have heard of them in the past some people prefer those over pro 1s.

Yes. As an owner, they are definitely a more robust camshaft than the Pro1, and can work with smaller turbochargers better unlike the Pro1.
Now, right now, GSC has paused production of the camshaft for a bit while they release some of their newer products, so if you're in a hurry and can't wait for them to get back online (about June 2021), then the 2nd alternative would be the Kelford Camshafts 176-Ts.
They work well also.

Thanks for the suggestion, i want the car ready before June. I currently have skunk2 valves, springs and retainers. Would I need to upgrade the valve train for the kelfords?
Thank you

Depends upon the valvespring seat pressures you have. Most Skunk2 (except Ultra) are about 70lbs seat pressure (your part number will have that measurement either on the site or your box).

Kelfords may require a stronger pressure over 85lbs, but you will need to contact them to verify what range of seat pressures work with their camshaft.
