Default Need Help b16 is breaking up and stuttering

I have a b16a2 eg hatch and when it warms up it starts to break up especially in vtec its like it stutters. Whenever it breaks up I smell heavy fuel fumes. I changed the spark plugs they looked like they were burning rich. I changed them and it kept breaking up. After a while I decided to change the O2 sensor which also did nothing. Then I started to smell a small scent of rotten eggs and then I removed the catyltic converter and she still breaks up. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this situated?

Sounds like your running rich when at OP temp or engaging vtec.

So have you tested driving the car cold or not at OP temp? And is this how you determined it only happens when "Warmed up"?

Stock ECU?

Any check engine lights?

Check your ignition timing with a timing light!

Test and replace the ECT sensor! this sensor will make your engine run poorly if its out of range which is common.

yes I tested the car cold and it runs normal as the more it warms up the more its starts to stutter even low rpm. The car has a chipped p75 ecu and their is not a single cell. At first It would stutter if I was in high rpm and getting into throttle it would stutter and clear and now it just runs poorly.

Replace the ECT sensor and see what happens!

You might find it cheaper at the dealer or elsewhere but get a OEM sensor.

Also can you expand on the "chipped P75" ecu?
Does this mean you've had it tuned to your motor or you bought some random ebay chip that is claimed to be for your motor?

I bought the car a year ago and I have no clue if the car is tuned with the chipped ecu for the specific set up

Clean the harness plug and inspect the wires and prongs. Make sure the white plastic guard is present inside the plug housing.

There has been a few times this issue has boiled down to the ECU. Sometimes the the chip loses it's tune or the ECU goes bad.

Yea look into trying a different ECU with a known good base map, I suggest Hondata but I'm sure there's a stock ECU you can find to run the B16.

Good points, none of which are addressed in the original posts. These should be looked at first. I assumed they had been before coming to the forums but that is bad form on my part.

Thanks for catching these.

classic coil/icm troubleshooting post:

https://www.team-integra.net/threads...ooting.342735/

just keep decent spares on hand as you will def need them eventually
the factory distribs are pure gold compared to aftermarket,
don't toss out perfectly good parts for a whole new distrib.
always buy made in japan when possible!
