Would 95 civic dx transmission work for 95 civic ex????
Hi, so i have a 95 honda civic ex with a d16z6 engine.. it needs a new transmission.. i found one for a good price with low miles, no leaks or gear slipping..and that transmission came out of a 95 honda civic dx.
now would that work?? Would it bolt up and work good??
Please let me know, and thanks..

D-series trans are D-series trans....so yes, It will bolt up.
I dont remember id D-series EX and DX trans have different gearing though. If they have differing gear ratios, then it will perform different.

They do have different gearing. The DX transmission ratios are taller, so the cars acceleration will be slower.
I recently found a transmission with only 45000 miles on it.. but its from a honda civic 96-00.. its D series.. would this bolt up and work good?? Gear ratio might be a little diffrent but would the electronics work good together??
No.
You have to stay with 5th gen (92-95) when it comes to automatics. The 6th gen (96-00) had more electronic controls than the 5th gen.
I was told the DX automatic will actually improve performance on a D16Z6 motor. Not sure why but I do trust the source. Even though it's a little taller than the Ex/Si automatic, the shift points might be better. Not really sure. Your fuel economy should improve a touch over-all.
On the 5th gen, I believe the TCM only controls 4th gear and the Torque Converter Lock-up.
