Thought I would post this as there's quite a bit of confusion as to how to properly install these studs. I won't go into preferences you can do it how it works for you, some say hand tight, some same hand tight and back off half a turn, etc etc. Make sure your threads are super clean, they are M10x1.25 you may use ARPs thread chaser or whatever works for you. This is part number 208-4305 Honda D16Y head stud kit. This was done on a Y7 block that's using a Y7 head. When properly bottomed out you will have 9 studs right at 3 1/2 inches above the deck and 1 in the corner where the coolant passage is for the top radiator hose that's 3 1/8. This is normal because the way the head is cast. When you put the head on they will all be even and you don't run out of threads like I've seen on some builds. Hope it helps someone out ! Part number Studs in,view from timing belt side of engine You will have 9 at approx 3 1/2 when properly installed
This one sits lower than the other 9. Looking at the front of the engine where the timing belt is,it's going to be the one closest to you on the right it's a hair over 3 1/8
