D16 turbo clutch+flywheel recommendation
So about a year ago in my ek sedan, I built my d16y7 block/y8 head with eagle rods, vitara pistons, cast log manifold, eBay t3/t4 turbo, 880cc injectors, chipped ecu tuned with chrome, etc.. well long story short, my cheap self put a new, stock replacement exedy clutch on during the build on the stock(unresurfaced) flywheel. Well a year and 12,000miles later of daily driving(hard driving), that clutch said bye bye today.. the car makes 305whp and I’m asking for recommendations for a clutch that will last. I don’t mind a stiffer pedal. And while I’m ther I’d also like to put in a lighter flywheel in anyone has recommendations for that also. Yes I have searched but I’d like a more personalized recommendation,
thanks
thanks
Stock flywheel. Hands down. Clutch? Action clutch is good. The stage 3 starts getting wonky after about 300wtq. ACT has some excellent choices, depending on how much you really wanna spend. Competition Clutch is good. Their stage 4 holds decent power, pretty affordable too. Just don't go for some BS Ebay "stagex" clutch.

I had a lightweight flywheel while boosted and compared to stock, stock was MUCH better.. Stays in boost range.
I've been super happy with my Competition Stage 4 clutch. Sprung disc, slightly stiffer pedal feel, but not a monster and it engages smoothly. I paid $330 for mine which is a great deal, IMO. Several launches on drag slicks at the track and ~11K miles of street driving and it's still going strong. I did follow their recommended break-in. I also agree with Txdragon - stock weight flywheel is best. A light flywheel revs up fast but also revs down fast.
