Default Thread swept from the spark plug into the cylinder head of the F23A1.

Bt. Over here I ask for your support and knowledge to solve a problem that occurred to me when checking the spark plugs of my Honda Accord 2000 F23A1. Cylinder head # 2 thread has been swept or isolated. The truth is, I don't want to have to change the cylinder head, but they tell me that it is almost impossible to re-thread in that hole. What do colleagues suggest to me?

I already tried a search in the forum for this specific topic and did not find any thread. If there were, I would be very grateful if you could tell me. Thank you for your answers.

Some repair options are:

1) Replace cylinder head or
2) Use Time-Sert repair kit.

Thank you tech8 for responding to my call.
I have some questions, maybe you can help me with them:

1) Can the time-sert work be done without disassembling the camera ?.

2) What is the code or model of the time-sert kit for my spark plug (NGK ZFR7F-11)?

3) I also wonder if the protective tube of the spark plug could not be disassembled to carry out this time-sert work more comfortably?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You potentially can do a helicoil without removing the head. You will want to make sure the valves are closed so more crap doesn't end up down in the engine. You then run the tool that will make the threads, then insert the helicoil.

To watch someone do a spark plug helicoild and do it in the car watch this, and he gives some reasonable tips which could apply. It's not a Honda, but the idea is similar. Ignore his thoughts on a ballpeen and sorta fixes, that won't work in this case.

Here is something that I would think would work, you might be able to look and find something less expensive elswhere, however this is for a M14 or 14mm spark plug hole in a Honda with a deep hole so you can reach it. When buying one, be careful if you choose something else that it is not too short to get down into the hole. Most of the ones I've seen are normally for when the spark plug is external, such as a chevy small block, where you can thread the hole immediately, not have to get down into it.

Thankful 99 stockcivic for your comments and observations.
In fact, I think that what gives an extra degree of difficulty to the solution to my problem using Time-sert or Helicoil is the existence of the protective tube of the spark plug that prevents visual and tactile access to the hole in the chamber where it screws the spark plug. That is why I ask again if it is not possible to remove this protective tube from its place, carry out the work and then replace the protective tube in its place. Thank you for these contributions that give me some hope regarding the cost of the repair.

Good Morning.
Checking the network I found that when looking for the appropriate time-sert for the F23A1 motor, there are 3 measurements that must be considered, that is, the diameter, the pitch and the length of the helicoil. I know the diameter is 14mm (M14), but I do not know both the appropriate pitch and length to use in this process of repairing this isolated thread. If the connoisseurs of this forum could enlighten me in this, I would appreciate it, an error here in the selection I would surely regret it.
P.S. I remain in doubt as to whether it is possible and advisable to remove the protective tube from the spark plug.

A few things

1 - Spark plug helicoil is a standard size, it's M14 x 1.25 , if you get a "spark plug" 14mm helicoil, it's going to fit, there are not a variation. If you need more than one, you chase the second one in after the first.

2 - It is doubful you will be able to remove the tube, but it is "pressed" in. I use that in quotes because it's not a light fit, it's hammered in and hammered out to remove it. You basically have to put a vice grip on it and then use a mallet to try and hit it out. From personal experience, you will not be tapping on it gently, and you can't pull it out with just your arms. I have seen a video of someone getting it out, but I have never been able to remove it myself.

3 - If you are really concerned about getting the measurement correct, I would go buy a junkyard head and do a practice run on it, or go into the junkyard and practice on it. Also, keep in mind, it doesn't have to be perfect, you just need enough threads to hold it, it's not like a bolt hole where there will be a ton of pressure on the threads holding two items together.

Thank you for your support 99 stockcivic.
I have some assumptions that I would like to confirm for this job:
1. The piston must be in compression stroke to have the valves properly closed.
2. By making a slow and well-greased turn of the drill bit and also of the screw chuck, the residue not yet extracted from birutas should be minimal.
3. This final residue could be removed by strong vacuuming into the hole with a thin hose.
4. The alignment of both the drill bit and the screwing mandrel could be improved, incorporating a hard rubber or wood disc drilled in the center at the mouth of the tube, passing these pieces through said hole, preventing them from misaligning during drilling.
5. Could with this engine so make short trips (10km) to facilitate the procurement of spare parts and tools without damaging the machine ?.
Thanks again.

Friends I would also like your opinion on this product that I have been browsing on amazon:

-You are correct there shouldn't be much residue, but anything getting down in there is just not good in general.
-Vacuuming is correct, use a thin hose
-I do not think you would want to make any trips until you have finished. Get a rental or use Uber, borrow a friends car, but I wouldn't drive it with no spark plug myself.
-The item you browsed is not long enough to get down in the hole. If you look at the link I provided before:
Amazon Amazon

You will see that what you want is a longer device to get into the tube and get down to the threaded area to redo it. If you can get the tube out, then this might work, but I wouldn't buy that until you know you can get the tube removed.

I have come across a video, well, a series of videos from the youtuber "* realfixesrealfast *" that have been very instructive for me. I really recommend them for those who are suffering from this same problem that I myself suffer now or just to know what really happens in this repair process.
By the way, here is a picture of my much loved Accord with my eldest son Sebastian, slds and I hope you give me your opinion on some observations that you left for this work.
