ok. i read a lot of posts and info around. I am very confused ... more than ever. Here is my deal. I got a 98 civic DX hatchback. Just bought a 99 si engine with si ecu and si harness. Someone said I got to get 98 civic EX harness (same year as my car or same year as the engine?) and get 96-98 del sol ecu. OR get a wire converter in order to use the SI ECU and harness?? Please someone point me in the correct direction. Thanks so much

i put a 99 si engine in ym buddies 94 cx hatch and just used his cx harnes. Being that your motor is a 98 i believe the plugs are all the same. just transfer all the sensors over to your si engine. you will have to add wires for vtec though. and get a harness adapter fir your computer

who the hell makes harness adapters? because i have a 98 cx, and a 99-01 ecu won't accept the plugs

Use either your CX harness or if you are lazy or don't like adding wires get the 96-98 EX harness. Then get a ecu jumper harness for a OBDIIa to OBDIIb so you can plug up the 99-00 Si ecu to a 96-98 harness.

If you use the 99-00 Si harness, you will have to re-wire the green plug (interior harness) near the ecu since the pins are in different places.

Do a search for ecus and jumper harness' but Kenji is the man to talk to.

So trey, What you are saying is to get a 96-98 EX harness and then buy a jumper harness from Kenji so I can use the SI ECU?

or I can get the 96-98 EX harness and buy a 96-98 del sol ECU? and dont' need a jump converter harness right?

I am just trying to find easlier and cheapest way to go

Thanks

Get wiring diagrams for the motor and the car. Compare and contrast. Cheapest way would be to splice the two harnesses together. The ecu doesn't plug in? Is that the civic harness it won't plug into?
