Exhaust Cutout Results
This is following up my previous thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=334155
A couple of weeks ago went to LACR (Palmdale, CA):
Setup is 1992 Civic VX Hatch
B18C1
Injen CAI
JG Header 2.5'' Collector
Carsound 2.5'' High Flow Cat
2.5'' Crushbent Piping, 2.5'' Thermal Straight Thru Muffler
M/T 20x8x14s
Had 9-10 passes...hittin mid 14s. Fastest time was 14.45 and slowest I believe 14.6-14.7...don't really remember. 60 fts were all 1.9s.
Tonight went again. Same setup except 2.5'' exhaust cutout now installed. Also, thermal was replaced with stock like muffler, smaller inlet for noise purposes on the street...but that doesn't matter as i'm pretty much open header from the cutout.
Only got one run in because it was so damn crowded. New time?
60ft: 1.95
14.23 @ 94.08 MPH
sea level corrected: 13.77 @ 97+MPH
I'll go again maybe next week...try to get in a lot more runs in.

nice!! i have 2.25" piping with a stock *** muffler for the same reason u do. I hate the damn cops!!! but i was going to get 2.5" exhaust and muffler w/ resanotor...and the whole nine yards. but i just might try out the cut out. i have ran open header at the track b4 and it seemed like it didnt help me out that much.
good job though...

dude nice job. i think i'm going to be out there next week, but sure thought. depends on whether my parts come and we decide to start the turbo install.
wish i could've gone, but the budge job we did adapting the cx exhaust to the b18c1 finaly showed when friday morning i hit a speed bump and it somehow got knoced down, dragging along. cool!
BTW: Friday's suck for getting runs in. Go on wednesdays, you can get 10+ runs in.

Oops...no..those first times are not sea level corrected. Altitude corrected time for the fastest one from a couple weeks ago (14.45) would be a 13.99.
I got in ten passes and the 13.99 was the best. I only ran once Friday night and got 13.77. I'm sure I could have gotten a tad bit lower if I was able to get more runs in.

are you sure the times are better due to the cutout and not just possibly cooler temps..since you did say a few weeks ago.
I know here in Texas, just a few weeks ago we were still in the mid 90's..ha. Today it was about 60.
Nice Job anyhow..

Ur right...there would be no way for me to prove it wasn't the track conditions. But, a couple of weeks ago...it was a lot colder. I remember it eventually rained that night too.
It was cool friday also. I guess when I dyno the car again...that'll be when I know for sure.

Open header rules
I have seen a 2-3 mph increase as well as a 1.5 tenth reduction in ET consistently over my 2.25" exhaust system.
Its free.....5 mins to do......worth the effort.
