Just thought I would post a picture of me removing my crankshaft bolt from a 97 Honda accord. Bought this car from a lady on Craigslist and went about changing the timing belt. From what I can tell the crank bolt had never been removed before because that baby was on there tight. Take a look at the image and you can see the bend in the breaker bar which was being assisted by a floor jack. I was finally able to get the bolt out by using a 4ft breaker bar assisted by a blow torch.
Yeah, that bolt is a pain. I finally got mine to get lose by putting the breaker bar on it, had it against the ground and hit the starter a couple of times, which broke it loose.
I don't think I run across many other bolts that difficult.
This picture had me messed up, til I realized it was the 2.7 V6.
If the crankshaft bolt gives you any problems, always hit it with the MAP torch. Just enough to get it hot. There are folks out there that put loctite on those bolts, need to get them up to 500° to break the bond.
