2007 Honda Civic LX Sedan 1.8L engine
I recently replaced my alternator and serpentine belt by myself.
I had to do a pigtail connection to the middle alternator connector due to the fact that i ripped off one little wire too hard.
Overall, i felt the pigtail connection was solid, tight and good overall.
However, i took the car to the mechanic just to double check if all was well.
The mechanic hooked up an alternator/batter voltage tool and saw that the car was idling at 12 volts.
I did not turn on the lights or roll up the windows to check to see if the voltage went up in the tool...
my question is this.. Should the alternator/battery voltage tool show 12v or 14v when idle with no load (lights off or windows NOT rolling up) ?
Should i go back to the mechanic and check if the voltage changes to 14v when the lights go on?
I heard there is a ELD (Electrical Load Detector).on hondas that makes it run on 12v when idle and 14v when theres load...
I drove the car for around 40 to 50 minutes with the lights turned on during the daytime and the internal dash lights didn't dim or fluctuate.
Is 12v on a 2007 honda civic LX Sedan normal?
if not what else could be wrong? Im sure all the connects were good.. the butt splice connections were solid and hard and were not loose... could it still be a bad connector?

Sounds like you did a better job the second time. Thank you for coming back in and posting your findings. It may help someone else out in the future.
