Default B16a no oil pressure

So I have a rebuilt b16a swapped into an ek civic. (I have not started the motor yet). I have the dizzy and injectors unplugged right now, and I’m trying to crank the motor to build oil pressure for when I do start. The issue I ran into was the oil pressure light not going away after I crank the motor for a few seconds. I have tried this multiple times and the light is still on after each time I crank the motor. I’m scared if I try anymore I might damage something. Can someone help me out with this?

as muellersfan said, this is normal. now once you start the engine and it runs, it'll build up pressure and the light should go out. if it doesn't go out after its been running for a few minutes you may have some other problems.

Don't wait a few MINUTES for the oil light to go out after starting... ten SECONDS should tell the tale.
