Default Ricer EJ6: Is there a way to build a K24A2 using budget internal components?DISCUSS !

I have a K24A2 stock with a FBO PTE 6262 and lots of KTuned goodies. Humble tuned it at 528/397. Turned it down a bit to be safe. My question is, how can I do a budget build on this motor to get more power? Internals? Head swap? Keep in mind I'm on a budget lol. Already 15k into this. I know I wanna do rods and pistons but what kind if I keep the k24 head or do the K20 head? What compression.....etc?

If I remember correctly Humble had a video on their channel of a k24 with rods and pistons with their budget turbo kit and they maxed out the fuel system. If you’ve been tuned there call them and see what they recommend.

The description says k24 with a k20 head.

I plan on asking Kenny but I always like to see what other people are doing. Humble builds aren't on a budget 😂 but definitely worth it. I'm doing all the work just curious about parts and setup.

Alex maxed out my fuel and that's all she'll get. That's why I wanna do the internals get 2000cc injectors a 50* vtc and walbro 450. Like to hit that 700+ mark 👀

Yep...welcome to K-series Roy, lol.

I've not built a k-series yet, but I would imagine pistons and rods would be a good place to start. This won't net you more power, but it will allow you to make more power safely. Again - I'm not well versed in the ways of the K, but I think doing the Type-S oil pump upgrade and the RBC cam gear are advised. Upgrade your fuel system as you've suggested, though I'd recommend maybe going bigger than 450 on the pump (depending on what fuel you're running). You may want to step your feed line up to -8AN also. Is your transmission/clutch/axles ready for 700 whp? LoL

Someone better versed in turbochargers will have to advise on whether or not the 6262 will get you where you want to be.

I definitely have some more research to do. My current trans is a 6 spd with lsd. Plan on switching to a built 5 speed and swapping my lsd over.

The motor is completely stock except the type s oil pump. Humble just got 700+ out of one too. Not sure how long the internals will hold up at that much power and that car gets abused every week lol

If y'all are wondering about the build I started a thread with what's currently done. I will update it as I add or remove stuff. Just got in some booty parts ie: rear Moog hubs, subframe brace, sway bar and 1320 sway links....👌

It’s pretty amazing what they are getting out of those engines bone stock. I’m pretty sure they would recommend rods and pistons at a minimum for you though.

Rods and Pistons, Springs and Retainers, ARP headstuds. Keep the K24A2 head, stock cams etc. Don't worry about a wider VTC gear - Jeff Evans has shown that most turbo combos don't need more than 30 degrees anyway. 4Piston Type-S oil pump or a new stock Type S oil pump (8800rpm safety range).

Humble like using the DW400 fuel pump with upgraded -8 feed line. You'll need to decide if you realistically want and can use 700whp ,as a 600whp E85 fuel system and a 700whp version start becoming different things. A Walboro 525 or dual 340 fuel pumps start becoming a requirement at the 700whp level. Get some FIC 2150cc and sell your existing injectors.

RBC intake manifold, twin-plate clutch. 3-port solenoid & EBC for boost by gear. Upgraded syncro gear set, LSD.

To make more more power you need more boost OR more rpm OR both. To do so you need to upgrade the rods and pistons and equip the engine to rev higher safely.

This helps. I will look into the dual pumps for sure. And realistically 700 is a goal if I decide to keep it as a track car mostly. As a daily I'm just enjoying the power it has now. But who doesn't want more power lol. Thanks for the help man.

Valve springs are a must at that power level in my opinion. Head studs, shelf pistons, shelf h-beams, 450 pump (274 version) and send it bro. Start saving for a gearset 😂

The Walbro (Now Ti Industries) 525 (Hellcat) is a nice fuel pump. It is as quiet as a 255 and will certainly push some petrol. Lol! I have a short writeup on the install into my EG in my build thread. Pretty standard, really, but a couple out of the box ideas to avoid chopping the stock pigtail. Fitment is a touch snug on the stock hanger, but it fits.
