Default 1994 honda del sol vtec b16a3 usdm swap options question?

i apologize in advance if this has been answered i just seem to get info more less about swapping engines into single cam del sols....i think i have my answer i just want to double check. i want to put a jdm b18c type r engine in my del sol i know i have the option to put motor/trans or just the long block and use my b16a3 tranny i have. im wondering is it the case using a jdm type r engine that all i need is the long block or motor and trans as well as a chipped p28 so i dont have to worry about tower plugs plugging up or plugs at ecu plugging in? also the ac bracket im needing from a 94-2000 integra?

is it the case that everything esle i have and bolts up cause im going from b series to b series, the only thing im thinking is if im going to go with the 96-97 spec or 98 plus spec engine and at that point whats the difference engine or engine trans wise that someone would pick one over the other?

thanks for any and all info again i am sure this is covered somewhere i just looked for a bit and could come up with my exact questions to be answered while i am almost sure i know whats needed just would like a second opinion so i do this right

Seeing as you have a B series Del sol you should have no issue replacing the engine with another B series.
Wiring: This should not be an issues seeing as you can reuse parts from you b16a3. Sometimes when you swap in an obd2 based engine into an obd1 you have to run the proper distributor etc.
A/C Bracket: No, to my knowledge you can re-use the ac bracket.
Engine Choice: This is up to your plans. Some JDM engines have higher compression and can rev higher due to there design. This is a great option if you want to swap the engine and that is it. If you are going to heavily modify the engine I.E replace pistons and add a turbocharger i suggest purchasing a USDM engine.
If you decide the route where you build a USDM B18 why not just build the b16 you have.

no im just wanting to swap out and install a jdm b18c type r motor with my b16 trans and keep it stock for the most part maybe change the tranny later on down to a type r trans for gearing and lsd. i dont want to build on my b16 as i would like to store that engine for smog reasons if its too much to try and bar my del sol with jdm type r motor. just was not sure what i could use to make everything work....so basically changing the distributor and some wiring there im assuming would be it? my assumption is i cant use my b16 usdm ecu so what would my options be to run the type r like it should be ran?

i guess i just dont want any check engine lights or anything i just assume the swap overall is easier and cheaper to get done because car is already equipped with a b series vtec motor

In regards to what ECU to use. You can chip the P30 ECU that is in your car right now and upload a B18C Type R tune to it.

All B series engines will mount in the EG platform provided the right mounts are used. Since your EG2 already has the B16A, any B series swap will be painless...all mounts and brackets will work.

The big question is what year is your EG2? Is it 92-95 or 96-98? If you have a 96-98, you are in luck because a B18C Type R will directly swap in without any need for worrying about OBD2 compatibility.

Not a whole heap of a lot different between 96-98 Type R and 98-01 Type R motors. The 98-01 used a 4-into-1 header/manifold, a slightly improved intake camshaft, and slightly different gearing the the tranny. Also, 98-01 JDM Type R axles use 36mm outer spline on the axles.
