Default 97 Civic EX Tune-Up Issue

Was doing a tune-up on my Civic EX w/ D16Y8 5-speed for the usual; fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Replaced the fuel filter and drove it a few miles to test for leaks. Got home, car was running fine, shut it off and let it cool off a bit before replacing the rest.

I removed the old distributor cap and then the phillips screw for the old rotor which was accessible but *barely*. I got the old rotor screw off, but wanting to get better accessibility for the new phillips head screw, I tried cranking the car over quickly. NOTHING.

I put the old rotor & screw back in (without the internal dust shield cuz of access), dist cap and plug wires, but still nothing. Battery has good charge (lights, accessories are good). Random starter issue? Or something obvious that I'm missing.

Post Dinner Update; Resorted to the turning the crank pulley until the screw area was aligned. Buttoned everything up, started it and purred like usual. Must have missed something small, but she's running/idling great.

You should have adjusted the valve lash and if anything, check for compression..
