Just bought a 97 CX Hatch.. Need help
It's got 96k on it and I'd like to start buy giving it a tune up. Is there anything special that I need other than, oil, filter, plugs, and air filter?

how many miles does it have on it? a basic tune up should include
Distributor cap and rotor
fuel filter
plugs
plug wires
air filter
oil change
again this is only for a "basic tune up". everytime i buy a car i always do brake maintence as well. i do a thorough inspection of the car

It has 96k miles on it. I've never done a distributor cap and rotor. Is this something that I can do myself or do I need to take it to a mechanic. Everything else other than the cap and rotor I'm pretty comfortable with doing.

Re: (xonn)
to get the cap off, its 3 philip head screws or you can use 8mm sockets (i think 8mm) to get the rotor off, there is one screw that holds it in place. you will be able to see it once you get the cap off. if its hidden you will have to click the key and try to get the motor to turn slowly so it will expose the screw for the rotor. replace the cap and rotor is really easy. just make sure that when you are putting the new cap on, you get the old gasket off the distributor and use the new gasket that came with the new cap. and do you know if the previous owner had the timinig belt changed?
