Del Sol clanking
Hello everyone, I’m looking for help with identifying a problem. My 1995 Del Sol S is making a metallic clanking noise intermittently when I take off or start the car, I suspect it could be a motor mount, but I’m not sure. It doesn’t do it all the time, but when it does, it clanks when taking off and shifting from first to second, but it doesn’t do it in the higher gears, it also does it when stopping after backing up. It’s been hard to diagnose since it doesn’t do it consistently, I haven’t always had this issue, It seems to have started after I had the catalytic converter replaced, I took it back to the shop because the exhaust was hitting the heat shield and they fixed it, but it started doing it again, so I took it back again and they said it wasn’t the exhaust. I’m pretty confused, my car has 156,398 miles and everything is original, it could be anything. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.
my del sol was making a clanking noise at one point and i discovered that the retaining clips for one of my break pads hadn't been installed making it bounce around and clank. could be a bad bushing somewhwere too. since you mentioned motor mounts is it safe to assume you hear it in the front end? can you tell if its more left or right side?
