Hello all. Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong forum. I am removing my carpet in my Del Sol due to horrible odor from water leaking over the years and want to replace the carpet with something that doesnt hold moisture in. I'm looking for something to prevent future odors as well as help absorb sound. Materials such as a roll of vinyl or Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) are what I'm thinking about at the moment. I havent bought any of these materials yet so I dont know how easy they would mold to the shape of the floor. Any information on materials that are best suited to this purpose or any tips are greatly appreciated. Also I was wondering if could I just lay some typical mass loaded vinyl down and it be all that is needed for a carpet replacement but I'm not sure how though if is Thank you for any information.

 

not a replacement, suggest you look into where that moisture is coming from.

 

I definitely have tried to get rid of the leak. I've done so by replacing the seals as well as stop leak rubber compound and while I'm continuing to fix the leak I'm going to have to replace the carpet anyway and dont want carpet again.

So no to using MLV on it's own?
What about some rubber products?
I also found this pre mold on ebay, any reasons not to go for it? It's made by ACC. And yes I noticed that's not a picture of the Del Sol carpet, that is just a generic photo they use for all listings.

molded vinyl is different from what you specified. If you think it'll help your situation to get the mold vinyl go for it.
