Default Hks ssqv bov problems

I bought an hks ssqv off of a buddy of mine about a year ago and ever since i bought it it always seemed like it was messed up. It never made the iconic whistle that they should make and almost sounded like a tial bov. I have been rebuilding the motor and doing a bunch of other things to my car the past couple months and finally got the chance to take it apart and inspect it for any damage. Everything inside looked relatively okay, but one thing i noticed was that the face of the piston that says “super sequential blow off valve” with the red anodizing on it spins freely on the piston itself. Im not sure if this is normal but it seemed kind of odd. I even noticed the face of the piston spinning while i had a friend revving the engine. Before anybody asks it is a 100% genuine hks ssqv bov. Any input would help im trying to figure out if i shoukd pickup a new bov while i have everything apart.

here you go. You can determine it yourself since you showed no actual pics of what you have.

Mine looks like that too, but I know it's a fake. Don't focus on the wrong aspect, bud, nobody **really** cares if it is counterfeit or not, it's just the issue you're having doesn't happen on the real deal. If you're wanting the iconic HKS sound, I suggest you buy a new one.. The knockoff that I had gave me that sound for about 5 runs then stopped.. it still works as a BOV and *looks* HKS, that will just have to work for me. Lol!

Just look at the HKS badge. I gave you a link, yet you clearly couldn't tell yours is a fake. The paint on a real HKS isn't going to chip that easily. Might want to go get your money back from whoever sold it to you. Don't be mad we told you the truth.

i just don't understand how it could be fake. The acorn nuts look the same, the vaccum fitting measures out to be the same as the one shown in the link you send (measured with my micrometer) and the badges look the exact same.

Don't focus on the authenticity, just keep mind to it working as a BOV should..

Real or Fake... it looks really old and tired. Chances are good that it has run it's course in life. Get a NEW one and move on.
