Default 98 civic lx intake problems No VTEC

I recently did a swap from auto to manual. I was given a manual intake and ecu for an ex. I have it running but I get a CEL for p1259. This is because my LX is not a vtec. I bought the lx ecu and then I get a CEL for P1509 and it runs like ****. I think because it is the LX it has a different intake than any of the other models. Does the LX use a 3 wire IAC for the manual and the auto or am I missing something. If it does do I need to move the black/blue wire in the engine harness or do I leave it where it was? Any help would be great thanks.

Yes, the non-VTEC D16Y7 engines all have 3-wire IACV systems regardless of whether it has a manual or automatic transmission. This means that the black/blue wire for the IACV would need to be returned to the original harness ECU plug position (14 instead of 12)... or to the right of the orange/black IACV wire instead of the left side for the "two wire" IACV type.

To run a y8 manifold on a y7 ecu you have to use an automatic 96-00 y8 throttle body, or a manual 99-00 throttle body. The IACV is built into the throttle body on these models and has the "3 wire" Iacv as opposed to the "2 wire" you currently have. You have to rewire it like JR said.

So can I use my auto throttle body or do I have to switch to the manual one? I have the original intake and throttle body still but it’s for an auto and I am just wondering if the ecu will care or not?

All of the y7 throttle bodies are the same but I believe you have to switch out the rotating peice that the connector attaches to or turn it around.

It looks like in this thread he swaps the rotor from the one on the y8 to the y7 throttle body.

So I guess I don't know what you mean by switch the rotating part of the throttlebody. If I am using the same cable and intake as I was when it was manual why would it matter/? Some clarification would be cool

I would think that I may need to switch the entire throttle body or not. Can anyone give me some clarification on this please

The rotary on them rotate different directions, the y7 tb wont work on the y8 manifold unless swapped. To make things simple, just go to the junkyard and fine and automatic 96-00 ex automatic tb or 99 - 00 ex manual tb and run it, it'll work fine.

So I put an intake on it that was for a vtec motor along with a vtec pcm. It runs but has a p1259 light so I want to put a non vtec intake and pcm in it but only have an automatic throttle body. I want to know if I can use it or if I need to buy a manual. The parts breakdown says they are different by how? And with the pcm know the dofference?

You literally said in the start of your post that it's an intake from an ex... Which means it's from a y8...

That is what is on there now. I want to take that off because I don’t have vtec and the pcm is for a vtec motor. I want to put the original y7 intake back on it but don’t know if the automatic throttle body will work now that the car is a manual. I have the correct y7 pcm for a manual.

sorry I am as confused as you are at this point hopefully this clears up what I am trying to do.

Yes, the throttle bodies for manual and automatic y7s are identical, you will need a manual d16y7 ecu. I would keep your y8 manifold, it looks cooler and is better flowing overall and will still work. I've done the conversion before.

Any tutorials on how to convert the throttle body? I would much rather do less work by replacing the rotating part of the TB

Also, you're intake has air injection then you'll need to plug the holes on the manifold with jb weld.

Is there a way to tell if I have air injection without taking the intake off? I was running it before with no issues besides the vtec CEL I woiuld assume I don't. I do now have it all swapped and have an idle surge that I can't figure out
