Transmission not shifting into gears while running
Hey how are you guys I was wondering if anyone knows why, while the car is turned off it can roll through the gears like nothing but once it’s turned on it immediately dosent want to enter any gear With the clutch pressed all the way down, if I try reverse all I get is a grind out of it it’s a 1996 Civic dx hatchback 5 speed and I’ve noticed that my slave cylinder was leaking black fluid out of the boot area would that be the culprit or would it be that the actual clutch is getting worn when it was shifting fine just two days ago and very smooth also just finished giving it a transmission fluid change and it didn’t change anything so any thoughts would appreciated to help me fix this problem thank you so much for listening !
By any chance would that fluid leak from the slave cylinder cause The car not to go into gear since air is probably seeping into the system filling it with air even though the clutch is pressed all the way down? Car turns on fine and everything
Thank you so much, worried something worse like the clutch when just the day before car was running fine and shifting smoothly too so just that slave cylinder can cause that many problems crazy right!?

I've seen plenty of pressure plates that have springs. Besides, how do you think the pressure plate provides a clamping force and has the ability to be released except by spring force? Not all springs are coils, mind you.
It takes a lot of force to damage those tabs on a PP. Never seen one broken off, stock or aftermarket PP. The only thing that holds the coil springs on a clutch disk are small metal tabs. The coil springs don't break, it's the tabs holding them in place that do.
