Ruckus starting problem and dies when giving throttle
I purchased a ruckus that wasnt running earlier this week, I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, i cleaned out the carburetor, put in a new sparkplug, and recharged the battery. I got it to run on idle using starter fluid, but it will die within seconds, and if I give it throttle while it's on idle, it dies completely. I have got it to run with throttle a few times, but after a few seconds it dies as well. I'm running out of ideas, what else could it be? I'm new to the Honda ruckus.
Try using a finger to cover the air intake in the exhaust housing. It's just like "in the old days" when you manually choked the carb. It will start, then run rich because of the excess fuel, then remove your finger for a second or two and it will start to falter, so put you finger back. Shortly it will warm up enough to run. If this works, one would think it points to the automatic choke and/or the idle jet. However, I've made sure they are not clogged or maladjusted and the problem still persists. Go figure.
