So on the basis that VTEC isn't engaging, the car is throwing Code 23 when the rev's are supposed to engage the noid (4300-4500). This is the knock sensor, is this enough for VTEC to not engage? Is there a way to bypass the knock sensor? As far as I'm aware the B18B1 block does not have provision for a knock sensor, correct? Did noid troubleshooting and all is good
If the only answer is new ECU, I have been checking in to getting a chipped P28, to which I have some questions:
Is there any issues on switching to a P28 with regards to the injectors? (Peak and Hold vs Saturated) I know my car has saturated, but is there any compatibility issues here between the OBD1 ECU to OBD2B car wiring?
i.e. Is it something I have to worry about or is it really just "plug-n-play"?
What exactly is needed to accomplish the ECU swap? Is it only the OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness or is there any additional work needed? (Currently has a P2T)
Is there any issue if its not an original P28? i.e. P06, P05, P75, PR4 etc. reflashed/converted to P28 spec and chipped and is it as reliable or would it be better to simply get a P28?
Would the US size ECU fit? I have the square P2T, don't know if this is normal but I see the USDM's are rectangular and larger, also is the P2T I have normal or is it JDM spec?
I would like to start out with a simple tuned chip, but would like to move on to tuning it, so I'm looking into a Demon/Neptune or S300, any one better than the other? Thoughts?
I would like to have some compatibility with an android-ish app, sort of like Torque, to have a display on the radio, like a Skyline, anyone knows if either has this available yet? (Demon/Neptune I see there is a BT module and S300 is being worked on) and as far as I am aware once I go with either I can no longer use Hondash
Specs: 2000 Civic SiR LS/Vtec '97 B18B1/'00 PR3
I currently have full exhaust (header, test pipe and full stainless exhaust at 2.25" all open) no emission test to pass or anything, stock intake with a short ram but planning on getting the BLOX V3 admission and deciding between a whale p***s or a tru-CAI, full-alum 2-row radiator with full coverage alum shroud, have stock S4C trans, not sure if it has LSD but it doesn't have the letters on the case, haven't opened it up either, reworking the suspension to coil overs and all poly bushings, stock sway bars, 26(I believe) F and 13mm R, everything else is pretty much stock unless im forgetting something
On this build, what injector size would be good to run? Would like to turbo but not anytime soon, still need to fix other things first, so at this point still NA. Car is a DD with well more that usual spirited driving and occasional track usage

Yes, if you are throwing a know sensor code the vtec will not engage. Yes the B18B1 does not have the provisions for the knock sensor. Keep in mind that the B18B1 runs a different ECU.

There should be no issue with the injectors as long as they are low impedance. This issues normally arise when swap injecotrs from the older hondas.

All that is needed is an obd2b to obd1 jumper.

There should be no issue with it not being an original P28. At the end of the day its just hardware.

The p2T is normal. Yes, the obd1 rectangular ecu should fit

Purchase what your tuner is most comfortable with. If you plan on learning to tune yourself i suggest Hondata s300 as it is more user friendly in my opinion.

You can probably get away with the Stock injectors if you bump up the fuel pressure a bit. 450-550cc injectors will give you room if you later want to move to a different fuel like E85.
