So the car had a stuck stat, and many of the connections to water lines were corroded, including the thermostat housings. So i change the thermostat base, new stant super stat stock temp, thermostat cover, new gasket, new thermo switch and ecu sensor.
After these changes the car starts running hot, and starts boiling before the temp even goes up on the dash. never passes halfway. This is my wife's car so I may think she heated the car and screwed the head. I am actually in need of checking compression for the gasket, however i don't see any issues, i.e. no water in oil, no oil in antifreeze, so I'm thinking its either a bad water pump, or a bad head gasket. So I'm ordering a compression leak down tester, and I noticed the water pipe was way corroded and picture it this way, walls thickened like cholesterol. Apparently previous owner did not care much for the car, and it;s her first car so I would like for it to last her longer.
For the pipe I found 2 different, her car has the small pipe to the end, next to the thermostat, but I can find only one that has it in the middle. hondapartsnow has part number 19505-P2J-J60 and shows it as in the middle. Would it actually fit and work as oem?
this is what the car has Would this fit?
Can you confirm the engine block in the car is a D16Y8?
The water pipe you say that was in the engine appears to be a 4th gen water pipe (88-91). Modified by having the brackets removed and the posts welded in it's place.

I can confirm the motor is a D16Y8, SOHC VTEC. When I was changing the thermostat housing, the small pipe was next to it and the pipe itself does not have welded tabs, it has the round posts.
In general my question is, will the one with the small pipe in the middle, fit the car without any issues?

It should, that is why I was asking if you could confirm it is indeed the D16Y8 as the connecting pipe with the small pipe in the middle is for ALL 96-00 civics regardless of trim.
However, please be aware the connecting rubber hose to the smaller nipple may need to be changed to the proper hose too. It's likely been changed to one that will reach the end and may not fit the center nipple design. Or may have too much excess if moved to the center etc.

Got it, thank you very much for the input. As you state, maybe someone changed it previously, so I'll be changing it again and correcting what was done, and I'll go ahead and change the hose anyways, just to make sure, it's probably rotted anyways, better a new one since I'm already changing things out.
the rusted one isn't from a D16y8. I know this because I bought a brand new one for my setup and it looked like the cleaner one, with the nipple in the middle of the pipe.
