Default Check engine light off and on

I have a 1999 LX Accord. The check engine light has been coming on when the gas gage hits 3/4 full and goes back off when 1/4 empty. This has happened several times. Any idea what is really going on?

You are going to laugh, and it wasn't the same car, but it was a honda and the same year. In my case, it turned out to be the bulbs. I first swapped in all the burnt out bulbs and the problem went away. I later replaced the bulbs with all LED lights in the dash, and the error re-appeared. Put the regular bulbs back and the error went away again. So, I'm guessing there was a voltage issue.

But that's just anectodal. Have you run a scanner on the car to see if there really is some weird error popping up?

I had the codes read at Autozone and the CAT code came up with the transmission neutral safety. I just changed the safety switch and noticed that the lights for each position are brighter now. 2nd gear would not show up (Automatic). I guess I will drive it and see what happens.
