bought a 2013 ruckus, wont start, no spark
recently picked up a 2013 ruckus. looks like it was half parted out, im trying to get it running again. put a new carb on it and checked all the wring , its missing the horn and blinkers, and a few other body parts. jumped the ignition because i dont have a key (i have a title) starter just clicks and "studders" doesnt make full rotations. if i spin with a drill on the cvt it still does nothing.
if i do a ecu reset, the headlights come on, but never come back on after i pull the jumper, so i dont think its letting it get spark? does it need to have coolant in it to run? if the lights never come back on after doing a ecu / tps reset , does that mean the ecu is bad?
i cant find anything wrong or missing with the wire harness besides some lights, but it doesnt have spark to the plug and wont fire up on starter fluid at all, dead nothing

So I have the same issues with pretty much the same setup (no coolant, no horn). I have replaced all the wiring, my ecu works on another ruckus, and I put a new stator on it. I still get no spark with the ignition switch or with manual cranking. I have looked into using a multimeter to check if my stator is working properly which it is, I have made sure my battery is within spec to get the power it needs and still nothing.
I was talking to a bike builder just yesterday about my issue and he said to look and see if the stator is set to give spark at the correct position in the combustion cycle. He said that he once set up the spark timing incorrectly which caused his bike to never start. My takeaway from that is maybe the ruckus won't allow for spark if the timing of the stator is incorrect.
I can't say for sure that is your problem, but I personally have been chasing my tail for months trying to figure out why I can't get spark so this is a new lead for me. Hopefully he is right and it can help you too.

yeah somthing is telling the ecu not to send power to the coil, i think. and its got to be somthing with the stator or a sensor. mine is missing pretty much the whole fuel system , and most of the lighting and gauges. i just want to see if i can get it running before swapping in an inferior but more powerful gy6 motor i already have
not yet, ive been going through the manual doing tests on the ecu and ignition because i dont seem to have spark. today i did a coompression test , the manual says to warm up the engine (i cant, doesnt run) and i get 50psi and it holds. manual says warm it up and it should be around 202psi.
not sure what to make of that.

I feel like that compression is low even for a cold motor, but I have not seen specs on what the compression should be. regardless, you should still be getting spark if compression was the only problem. I've been doing research on this since I'm in the same boat with you, but haven't found any real answers yet.
