What exhaust should Chev run for his lsvtec turbo?
I've been reading about what exhaust I should run on my setup and most say 3 inch. I've seen some suggest a 3 inch down pipe with 2.5 inch catback, but I'm not sure what to run. So, if anyone can help me out and give me ideas, I'd appreciate it.
My goal is at least 400 hp on pump gas and I don't want a lot of attention since I plan on driving it daily. My budget is also limited, so I don't have the money at the moment to buy a name brand exhaust, so I will probably have to make my own if I need to go 3 inch. I currently have a 2.5 inch exhaust at the moment.
If I need to go 3 inch, what muffler should I run and do I need any resonators?
Thanks for all the help.

I'm running full 3" with an 18" bottle style resonator and Vibrant streetpower muffler. Super quiet. Drove the car daily for many years and never had any issues with that setup. Very clean sound. No drone or rasp at all. At idle it sounds nearly stock. When the wastegate dump opens it's a different story though. Different engine and chassis but still applicable.
Either can be done. 3" will make things a bit easier making power and faster spool.
get a go auto 2.5 flared to 3" Downpipe IMO. Turbos in that power range will have a 2.5 exit anyway. I run a skunk2 header back its nice full stainless. budget wise you can get a ebay catback it will work fine

do a 3" custom exhaust by a local reputable muffler shop or weld up one yourself. Places like TruBendz will sell you a 3" piping kit and you can pick whichever muffler you want to add/use.
Go with 3" downpipe as well. Yes, it will clear the oil pan and shift linkage....

Thanks for everyone helping out with this. I'm probably going to run a resonator plus the vibrant muffler, sounds like the best course of action for what I'm looking for atm. Thanks again everyone!
