My 2005 Civic Sedan 1.7 VP D17A1 with 108,000 miles has leaking rear struts and I've noticed that there are now rattling noises coming from back and its a bit bouncy.
I looked at the Honda labeled ones sold online at at dealer but they are about $98 each which seems a bit high to me for a cheap model Honda. I read that KYB makes the struts for most Hondas so looked at their part finder website which only appears to be Australian only domain: https://www.kyb.com.au/partfinder/
The list of struts shown under my ES1 comes back as D17A2 (vtec one) not my D17A1 (non vtec) car.
I am using regular standard everything, no tire, or wheel upgrades so am looking for something that will work that isn't junk. Does anyone know the manufacturer that made the rear struts for my model of Honda?
Re: Who is OE strut supplier for 2005 Civic D17A1?
Thanks. I found it now. https://www.kyb.com/catalog/
I'm gonna do some KYB rears then maybe change out the front with them later on. KYB appears to have slightly better ratings than Monroe and people say is a little bit firmer.

The KYBs are ok for stock replacement, and they do their job, but I wasn't a fan of the rears on my brother's 02. For some reason the rear shocks with the stock springs sit a lot higher than the original suspension. Not sure why either and I was at my tech;'s shop watching him install the suspension and it was done the right way. (Had the 02 civic since it was brand new)
Haven't bothered to change it out since the car does the job as my brother's beater.

I hope it isn't too high. I don't want to have a jacked up rear end like some of those handicap vans have in the rear.

This is how the 2002 sits, as you can see the rear sits an inch higher than I would like it and way more the stock shocks did. There are times I regret swapping it out b/c they were not blown and just the fronts were leaking.
