Fuse issue - cigarette lighter, radio, etc
I just picked up an 88 RT AWD Wagon in great condition this morning. Only issue I am having that is confusing me is the cigarette lighter, clock, and interior dome light do not work. Also, I installed a stock radio, took out aftermarket radio and re-attached (soldered and heat shrinked) all stock wires, and the radio will not remember the stations I program once I turn the car off and turn it back on. I checked the fuse box and the fuse for the lighter is not blown. But, when looking at the fuse location there seems to be some little brown almost burn like staining. Earlier in the morning, I did hear some sizzling sounds from under the dash this morning after test driving the car and it looks like something happened. Is there a way to test it and fix it, or will I need to get a new fuse box? If I fix the fuse area, will this fix my radio, as I know that these are sort of related, with the constant power and all. Will a 1990 fuse box work with an 88?
Thanks for the advice. None of the fuses in the fuse box are blown, and they all seem to be getting power. I also noticed the hazards don't work either.
Voltage test both fuse 12 and the hazard lights fuse with a multimeter. Both top test tabs of each installed fuse should have battery voltage.
Thanks for all the advice! Turned out it was the fuse box. I replaced it with another one from the junkyard and the car works fine now.
