Exhaust manifold 1998 civic CX hatch
my civic got the famous crack on the exhaust manifold.. can i just repair it like quiksteel for smog test.. i live in california.. CARB compliant cat is kinda expensive.. thats why im looking for a cheap fix to pass smog.. btw NO Check engine light present at the moment

at the moment no CEL.. i have a pending code P1457 i change the shut off solenoid.. ill delete na code tom.. and use will observer for a few days if P1457 will go back.. then i have to do the drive cycle which is kinda time consuming
coz my plan is.. after i got pass smog.. planning to put yonaka exhaust and change the headers etc.. thats why im reluctant to buy CARB cat..
Prior to applying quiksteel, were other codes thrown?

yup the cat delete plan is after i got pass the smog.. maybe ill try with this cracked / repaired manifold hopefully all will go well fingers crossed lol
I passed with mine filled with quick steel. Just be sure to follow the directions to a T and make sure you have your heat shield attached so it covers the repaired area.
thanks for the info.. yup quick steel is still holding.. i just need the evap monitor ready in my obd2 then ill go smog it.. will update after
