2000 HX, wanting to swap in a D16y8, re-use harness?
So as the title says I have a 2000 Civic HX with a D16y5(vtec-e) That’s OBD2a, in wanting to swap in a Y8, is this possible with out replacing the harness?
I’m a bit confused since I know normally 96-98 and 99-00 harnesses are different.
Would I be able to use a 96-98 Y8 with a 96-98 Y8 ECU? Or would I need the harness as well?
ive seen people talk about rewiring the y5 harness to be compatible with the Y8s 4 wire primary O2, would just swapping in a 96-98 harness be easier?
have a buddy with a 97 EX harness and ECU he is giving me so If i get a 96-98 motor to complete the setup will it all be plug and play with my 2000 HX?

I’m a bit confused since I know normally 96-98 and 99-00 harnesses are different. They are, but the HX used the same '96-98 style for ALL years.
Would I be able to use a 96-98 Y8 with a 96-98 Y8 ECU? Or would I need the harness as well? That would be best since the engine fits the harness and the ECU is "plug-n-play".

Thank you, I didn’t really want to mess with the harness but I suppose I’ll have to it’ll probably be the best way to get the motor running correctly, and I don’t really want to hack up my y5 harness as I know they’re hard to find now.
