Default wiring gurus help... searched extensivly

Alright so I have searched many different sites from H-T to tampa racing and many others trying to find a 96-98 harness for sale. But alas no luck after trying this I started going through all the places in the motor swap thread in the hybrid section. I called a couple of them left some emails for others and they basically all told me the same thing that they were having an extremely hard time if not impossible for them to come up and find a 96-98 engine wire harness.
Now I know this sounds like a load of bullshit and I have the same amount of trouble beliving that it is this hard to come across a wire harness for a vehicle so vastly made and sold within these years but have come up with nothing. I have gone to all the surrounding salvage yards within a 50 mile radius and have come up with the same results ending in either they dont have any or they dont even accomodate import vehicles.
Now I am in a tight fix I currently have two harnesses, Harness number one is a 99-00 EX engine harness and ECU that were included with the purchase of a 99-00 D16y8 I got to replace my blown D16y7. Harness number two is the Previous 96-98 Cx harness that came with my car. Both harnesses are in an unmolested state as of now and I have come to the conclusion is i probably will have to rig up a harness using the 99-00 and 96-98.
Now for the questions, Simply stated what is my easiest route to make this motor work? I tried using my old harness but the IM wires come up to short and it is missing a few plugs in the harness that are on the EX IM. The 99-00 harness obviosly fits the motor like a glove but will not simply just be plug and play. I am anxious to get my car back on the road and I dont plan on keeping this swap for more than 50000 miles before going most likely H2B but I need the car back so I am not using my parents car to get myself around for the next half year to a year. So all you wiring gurus out there let me know what I can do with these two harness's if anything to get this car running properly and back on the road.
all help is much appreiciated...
P.s. sorry about the long post I cant eplain it fully any shorter than this currently...

Wait, wait wait. You are swapping a 99-00 d16y8 into your 96-98 cx? You have the 99-00 d16y8 engine, the 99-00 y8 engine harness, and the 99-00 y8 ecu. Correct? Thats exactly what you will use. No hacking of the harnesses, Just take your y7 out along with the harness and ecu, and replace it with the y8 engine, harness, and ecu.

edit: Am I completely misunderstanding the situation?

Yes you are completely correct I have a 96 civic CX and got a D16Y8, Engine harness, and ECU which are all from a 00 EX.

Okay, then you have everything you need. Drop the motor in, run the harness through the firewall and plug in the ecu.

I don't know why you were told that. As far as your engine's concerned you no longer have anymore connection with obd2a. Just run the obd2b engine, harness and ecu. Shouldn't be a problem.
